Ingrid Bynum
Dr. Ingrid Bynum became executive principal for Region 3 in March 2024. She was previously the principal at Patrick Henry K-8 School in Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS).
With her wealth of experience, academic achievements, and proven track record in public education, Bynum brings a dynamic vision and dedication to ensuring that all students receive an excellent education. With 26 years of distinguished service in public education, Bynum has excelled in various roles, including as a teacher, school-based administrator, and principal. Over the past 14 years, she has led three schools to significant improvement, demonstrating her ability to drive positive change and raise academic achievement.
Bynum's leadership extends beyond individual schools; she has also served as a Lead Principal for the division in ACPS, where she provided mentorship to new principals, showcasing her commitment to supporting and developing educational leaders. Having worked in seven schools across two school systems, Bynum possesses a deep understanding of diverse school communities' needs. Her accomplishments include consistently raising academic achievement and moving schools out of warning status, highlighting her effectiveness in driving progress.
Beyond her professional achievements, Bynum is actively involved in community volunteer efforts, reflecting her commitment to making a positive impact in the Region 3 community where she resides. Additionally, her proficiency in Spanish and French enhances her ability to connect with diverse stakeholders.
Bynum holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, and an Educational Specialist degree in Advanced Educational Leadership from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. She also holds a Doctor of Education from Regent University, specializing in Advanced Educational Leadership.
Bynum holds certifications in Administration and Supervision PK-12, and French PK-12, awarded by the Virginia Department of Education.
Bynum's accolades include being the 2016 ACPS Principal of the Year and leading Patrick Henry School to receive the 2019 Virginia Board of Education Highest Achievement Award.
